From Rags to Riches
Something I absolutely love to do is total transformations! I love to take a pet who is matted, beat down, stinky, smelly, and get my snazzy scissors out and go to work!
I volunteer at the Jonesboro Animal Control. They called me and said they had a "project dog" for me to come look at! I got there and my heart melted when I saw her! She looked like an animal mop! She had been picked up off the streets and was now up for adoption but everyone had looked right over her because of her messy appearance. I picked her up and whispered in her ear, "You'll have a new home soon princess" and off to the grooming room we went!
2-3 hours later, she was finished. We brushed, bathed, dried, clipped, trimmed, brushed teeth, shaved paw pads, cleaned eyes and ears, filed nails, sprayed with cologne, and added the bow and bandana and she was gorgeous!! I took her up front and Sgt. didn't even recognize her! When I placed her in her kennel, I said - "Don't worry, your new family is coming," kissed her on the head, and waved goodbye. In less than a week, she was adopted.
That's my favorite part of the job. If I can play a part of a total transformation, I want to. God has totally transformed my life and I want to help people see what these pets truly are if given tender loving care.
